TV Trailers: ‘Community’ Gets Hungry and ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is A Tease

Posted at January 16, 2013 by 0 Comment

Now that the holiday break is over for many, the time has come for a return to order in the kingdom of TV land. Plucky young stalwart Community is (finally) back with new showrunners and a thirst for improved ratings, while fierce warrior Game of Thrones is back to reclaim its rightful title as HBO’s smash fantasy hit. May the odds ever be in their favour.

Dan Harmon went the way of Ned Stark when it comes to Community, so under the new reign of former Happy Endings showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port, will the fourth season have the same flavour as the previous three? Surely most of the writers and behind-the-sceners are the same, as is the main cast, and as you can tell from this clip of the Hunger Deans, the show is just as ridiculous as always. We’ll find out how much the transition has affected the show for sure in a few more weeks, but until then all we can do is wring our hands and commiserate together.

Game of Thrones, on the other hand, has decided to play games with its viewers and release a teaser with zero new footage. Sure, the premiere is over two months away and they’re just trying to build the right atmosphere for the series return (which they do quite well), but I can’t get a single look at what Jon Snow’s up to these days? What the trailer does have is a return of that creepy three-eyed crow and The National’s rendition of “The Rains of Castamere,” juxtaposed with some eerie shots of urban landscapes. With the announcement that “Their World Returns To Ours,” HBO is reminding fans of the show’s crossover appeal — “telling human stories in a fantasy world!”

Community returns to NBC on February 7th while Game of Thrones returns to HBO a bit later on March 31st.
