Billie Joe Armstrong Coming to Showtime’s ‘Nurse Jackie’

It seems like every other day there’s some singer/musician making their transition to acting. Today, that pedestal belongs to Billie Joe Armstrong, and he’s heading to Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. Acting opposite of the ridiculously talented Edie Falco, Armstrong is coming off a run on American Idiot.

Armstrong will guest star in the Season 4 premiere as “a stranger whom Jackie meets that causes a major change in her life.” This is some inspired casting and I’m excited to see what kind of a character he’ll be playing while relating to Edie Falco’s pill-popping nurse Jackie Peyton. There’s a photo to boot!

Nurse Jackie will also be housing many guest stars including a new hospital administrator Bobby Cannavale, Rosie Perez, Aida Turturoo (The Sopranos) and Oscar winner Joel Grey.

In case you need some catching up, here’s a brief “where we left off” from Season 3 of Nurse Jackie:

Anna Deavere Smith’s Gloria Akalitus — the now former top dog at All Saint’s — essentially holding Jackie’s (Falco) fate in her hands before disposing of a urine sample that more than likely could have spelled doom for the pill-popping nurse.

Season 4 of Nurse Jackie premieres April 8 on Showtime.
