Actor Tom Hardy apparently doesn’t believe in taking time off. In 2012, Hardy made three films, including The Dark Knight Rises, This Means War and Lawless. Now, he’s off and running to four new films, a thriller called Locke, Child 44 a film about Mount Everest and one called Animal Rescue, as well as an adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell video game.

A most intriguing pairing in Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace for Animal Rescue, scripted by Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone) based on a short story that was first published in Boston Noir and directed by Michael R. Roskam (Bullhead). Fox Searchlight is eyeing a March start date, shooting in New York.

What’s the first thing you think of when you see Bane in The Dark Knight Rises? Obviously, “this guy must must make an excellent stealthy black-ops agent and I bet he would look great in a tight black suit.” Well, it turns out you’re right, and although I doubt he’ll being keeping his Bane-like proportions, Tom Hardy has indeed signed on to the upcoming Splinter Cell movie as agent Sam Fisher. The film will be based on the popular video game franchise as well as the resulting spinoff novels, with Tom Hardy swapping his Bane mask for those iconic trifocal goggles.
