Jennifer Aniston is diving into the deep end with a very funny cast by some guys who have put that certain quirky edge on comedy, Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, What’s Up Doc?) and producers Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom, The Royal Tenebaums, Rushmore) and Noah Baumbuch (The Squid and the Whale, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Margot at the Wedding). Aniston is joining her Marley and Me co-star Owen Wilson to hopefully bring that special chemistry again.

It doesnt get any better than this as post-Christmas news: Wes Anderson confirms that he’s adding Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel and F. Murray Abraham to his next film Grand Budapest Hotel. Especially after this year’s Moonrise Kingdom, just about everyone is awaiting the next project from the auteur. In addition, we get confirmation about the film itself and several of its cast members.

Want to talk about welcome casting additions to already well stocked productions from fantastic filmmakers? Well, Saoirse Ronan is joining Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, which is very little known except for that it’s a period piece set in a1920s Hungarian hotel. Jude Law, who’s also cast in Budapest Hotel is heading to Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert, another period piece about Gertrude Bell.

[UPDATE] It would amount to a general sigh of disappointment, it’s been confirmed that Johnny Depp will NOT be joining Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. Fear not, because the director has an awesome repertory of actors waiting in the wings.

[UPDATE] Jude Law is joining Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel where the actor confirmed to the press, that the director “sent me this wonderful script. I think we start work on that in January… It will be the usual team [of actors]. I have heard Johnny Depp is indeed playing a key role in it. I think my role is fleeting, but I’m very excited to be a part of that Wes Anderson family.” Law is reportedly set to play a psychic medium.

It’s an odd predicament when you have this many choice castings for a comedy rather than one big coup. Comedy is no longer a one-person game, but ensemble collaboration. Brie Larson, Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley are joining The Spectacular Now produced by Shawn Levy. Max Minghella is going to be part of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn’s The Internship. Kristen Schaal is lending her voice to Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers and Christopher Meloni will be joining the rank of Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd in They Came Together.
