‘Chronicle 2′ Max Landis Out

Posted at July 19, 2013 by

I mean that more in a visual of Landis dropping the mic kind of way as he walks off from his partnership with Fox for the sequel to his popular original. But it’s more congenial than that. At least on the surface. He’s got a surprisingly cool take on not being a part of Chronicle 2.

Via Twitter, Landis summed it up this way: “I’ve been off Chronicle 2 for months now. Fox had a different direction they wanted to take the series, Josh was never attached.” Josh is director Josh Trank.

Posted at May 22, 2013 by

The handsome High School Musical star Zac Efron is going back to high school again, but this time as a narc. The actor will be playing the big man on campus, with many roles as a college student, fraternity president and lacrosse team captain who gets busted for drugs that were meant for a party in Fox’s film Narc. The police offer to let him go free if he becomes a narc, secretly helping the police catch the bad guys while carrying on the usual campus activities.

Matt Dillon Starring in ‘Wayward Pines’ Miniseries From M. Night Shyamalan

Posted at May 14, 2013 by

Billed as a Twins Peak-esque “event series” for FOX, Matt Dillon is joining the small-town mystery drama Wayward Pines from director M. Night Shyamalan. The news comes from the ongoing chaotic week in Network Television known as Upfronts, a period which the big 5 networks cancel, greenlight, schedule and sell advertising for their upcoming television season.

Fox Drama ‘Rake’ Gets Tara Summers

Posted at March 21, 2013 by

The cast of Fox’s drama Rake has all been raked together with the addition of Ringer actress Tara Summers.

Greg Kinnear stars as criminal defense lawyer Keegan Joye. Joye is smart, charming and says whatever he thinks. His lack of judgment and ability to self-censor help him land the cases that no one else wants. Under the surface, however, lies a sense of optimism and belief in justice that fire up his determination to defend clients deemed beyond saving.

Posted at March 13, 2013 by

Formerly titled Inhuman, this J.J. Abrams and J. H. Wyman futuristic drama is still in pilot contention but it’s pedigree seems like an almost sure thing. The duo were behind Fox’s recently concluded sci-fi series, Fringe, and are teaming up once again for an ”action-packed buddy cop show, from Warner Bros TV and Bad Robot, is set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.” Karl Urban, Minka Kelly, Lili Taylor and Michael Ealy have been cast to lead the series.

Damon Wayans Jr. & Jake Johnson ‘Let’s Be Cops’ Greenlighted At Fox

Posted at March 5, 2013 by

One of the splendid things about TV actors is that their series usually break from production around the same time. It’s why you see a lot of TV comedy actors doing a cameo or two in some big-budget films or even star in one of their own. Damon Wayans Jr. (Happy Endings) and Jake Johnson (New Girl) have gotten the greenlight from Fox for a buddy cop comedy Let’s Be Cops.

Fresh from a recurring role on NBC’s Parenthood, actor Jason Ritter, son of the late John Ritter, will now play the lead in Friends & Family, a new Fox pilot. Ritter will play the role of Gavin, a neurotic but comical Woody Allen-ish character who starts dating a co-worker, whom he began a relationship in a very millenium kind of way, via Skype and Facebook.

On The ‘Fringe’: A Retrospective on Sci-Fi With Emotion

Posted at January 11, 2013 by

There just isn’t anything like Fringe, it’s an ever uplifting look at the ties that bind family; one that’s gone through science experiments gone wrong, breaking the fabric of universes to save a dying child, erased timelines, doppelgangers and futuristic invaders set to occupy our world. We’ve written about Fringe before, as well as John Noble’s performance as Walter Bishop, but with the series coming to an end sooner than we could prepare ourselves for, we thought to do a retrospective on the series focusing on why the series means so much, as well as reminisce incredible moments that defied the sci-fi genre and its tropes. Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD.

Bill Murray Joins George Clooney In Historical Heist ‘Monument Men’ (UPDATE: Daniel Craig Joins)

Posted at October 29, 2012 by

[UPDATE] In what seems like a cruel tease towards bloggers everywhere or an unintentional oversight by the film’s producers, it looks like Daniel Craig, John Goodman and Hugh Bonneville have joined George Clooney’s Monument Men. I guess this cast has reinforced its superb acting talent with a 007 agent (not that the Bond character will be appearing in the film) and the always reliable Goodman.

Its been a while since X-men Origins: Wolverine butchered the first film appearance of the popular Marvel Comics character, Deadpool (created by serial tweeter, Rob Liefeld). What should have been a launchpad to the promising “Merc with a mouth” franchise starring Ryan Reynolds, has since been lost in production hell over at Fox, who still owns the film rights to all things X.
