Robert De Niro Joining DiCaprio’s JFK conspiracy Thriller ‘Legacy of Secrecy’, David O. Russell Directing

Posted at May 20, 2013 by

Honestly, this lineup will make cinephiles scream at the top of their lungs, but it has me at odds. Robert De Niro is set to join Leonardo DiCaprio’s JFK assassination conspiracy film, Legacy of Secrecy with David O. Russell on board to direct. The film was announced way back in 2010 by DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company and has finally landed some forward momentum.

Alessandro Nivola Joins Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper for David O. Russell’s Abscam Corruption Film

Alessandro Nivola (Howl, Grace is Gone, Jurassic Park III, he was also quite good in Laurel Canyon) is joining the powerhouse reunion of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook). The last time these three got together, Lawrence got an Oscar, the film got a boat load of other awards, and the audience got a lot of chemistry so Nivola should be giving his agent an incredibly long, awkward hug about now.

Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell and actress Jennifer Lawrence are reuniting for Russell’s upcoming drama The Ends of the Earth for The Weinstein Company. The film is based on a true account of a powerful oil tycoon whose fortune is put in jeopardy after he is caught in an affair.

Louis C.K. Joins David O. Russell’s Untitled Abscam Drama Starring Christian Bale & Amy Adams

I was pretty late in joining the Louie laugh-riot, but I’ve come around even though those stand-up bits don’t always work for me. I prefer Louis C.K. playing up his fictional version self as Louie C.K., but the actor is joining a different kind of project. A period drama to be precise in David O. Russell’s Untitled Abscam Drama (formerly known as American Bullshit) that’s starring Christian Bale and Amy Adams.

THR’s Full, Uncensored Director’s Roundtable Discussion

Part three in THR’s series of roudtable discussion gives the baton from the male actors and female actors to our venerable directors. Some are recently new and some have been directing for quite some time, and then there’s Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained) hating on digital filmmaking. See Tom Hooper (Les Miserables), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Ben Affleck (Argo), David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) and Gus Van Sant (Promised Land) talk filmmaking after the jump.

TIFF Wrap-Up: ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ Wins People’s Choice Award & “Oscar-talk”

Posted at September 18, 2012 by

Yes folks, TIFF has come and gone just like that. So quickly it came and so it went. We were quite impressed with this year’s screening and gala selections that made up envious of not being there. Luckily, the interwebs covered more than enough for us to get excited and seeing David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook win the People’s Choice Award suprised us. Not to mention all the “Oscar-talk” that’s soon to begin.

Bradley Cooper and David O. Russell Might Reunite For ‘American Sniper’

After replacing Mark Wahlberg in David O. Russell’s The Silver Lining Playbook, Bradley Cooper seems to be stealing Russell even further away from Wahlberg, in one of Hollywood’s weirdest love triangles yet. Russell previously directed Wahlberg in The Fighter, where the two had great chemistry. But now Cooper has stepped up as Russell’s new man, starring in his future untitled Abscam-sting project, and the two might get involved even further in American Sniper, based on military sniper Chris Kyle’s autobiography.
