Alessandro Nivola (Howl, Grace is Gone, Jurassic Park III, he was also quite good in Laurel Canyon) is joining the powerhouse reunion of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook). The last time these three got together, Lawrence got an Oscar, the film got a boat load of other awards, and the audience got a lot of chemistry so Nivola should be giving his agent an incredibly long, awkward hug about now.

I was pretty late in joining the Louie laugh-riot, but I’ve come around even though those stand-up bits don’t always work for me. I prefer Louis C.K. playing up his fictional version self as Louie C.K., but the actor is joining a different kind of project. A period drama to be precise in David O. Russell’s Untitled Abscam Drama (formerly known as American Bullshit) that’s starring Christian Bale and Amy Adams.

See Tom Hooper (Les Miserables), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Ben Affleck (Argo), David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) and Gus Van Sant (Promised Land) talk filmmaking after the jump.

Yes folks, TIFF has come and gone just like that. So quickly it came and so it went. We were quite impressed with this year’s screening and gala selections that made up envious of not being there. Luckily, the interwebs covered more than enough for us to get excited and seeing David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook win the People’s Choice Award suprised us. Not to mention all the “Oscar-talk” that’s soon to begin.

After replacing Mark Wahlberg in David O. Russell’s The Silver Lining Playbook, Bradley Cooper seems to be stealing Russell even further away from Wahlberg, in one of Hollywood’s weirdest love triangles yet. Russell previously directed Wahlberg in The Fighter, where the two had great chemistry. But now Cooper has stepped up as Russell’s new man, starring in his future untitled Abscam-sting project, and the two might get involved even further in American Sniper, based on military sniper Chris Kyle’s autobiography.
