Rebecca Hall Debunks Haunting Children For ‘The Awakening’ (UPDATE: New Clip)

Posted at August 8, 2012 by 0 Comment

[UPDATE] There’s a truly chilling, atmospheric and creepy new clip from The Awakening. It’s now on our “to watch” list. A tough slot to earn.

[Original] Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, The Awakening is following in the footsteps of Insidious. Starring Rebecca Hall who’s “an author and professional hoax exposer” that’s entirely set as a period drama, the film has an interesting haunted atmosphere with some (hopefully) pretty costumes. Because ghost children are rather boring horror tropes, give the trailer a shot after the jump.

Here’s a quick synopsis:

In The Awakening, 1921 England is overwhelmed by the loss and grief of World War I. Hoax exposer Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall) visits a boarding school to explain sightings of a child ghost lurking the halls. Everything she knew in unravels as the ‘missing’ begin to show themselves.

The Awakening also stars Imelda Staunton and Joseph Mawle. Directed by Nick Murphy, co-written with Stephen Wolk. The film comes to theaters August 17, 2012.
