Jessica Chastain is really rocking this, while Shia LaBeouf looks like a child playing “cowboys & indians”:

As much as I like a good “prohibition era” bootlegging drama, I think there’s archetypes that get played way too often. The trailer for Lawless has a little bit of those elements, but brings some surprises with Guy Pearce’s “Special Agent Charlie Rakes”, Gary Oldman and (surprisingly) in Shia LaBeouf. Check out the trailer after the jump.
The film does boast an impressive cast (in addition to those above): Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. Directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition), we’ll be expecting some great (and hopefully entertaining) things.
Here’s a quick synopsis:
“The true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. Inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County In The World,” the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”
The film comes out 31 August 2012.
