James Franco In Action Mode With Statham for Stallone Scripted ‘Homefront’
For some time now, James Franco’s resume reads like a bucket list. Add 80′s action star, or the next best thing, to the list by having signed on to star opposite Jason Statham in the Sylvester Stallone scripted Homefront.
THR reports the story “follows Phil Broker (Statham), an ex-DEA agent who moves his family to a quiet town hoping to escape his past. However, he finds the town to be overrun with violence, drug traffickers and an evil meth magnate named Gator (Franco). To save his endangered family, retribution is now the only thing Broker seeks.”
Not quite The Expendables territory, but it does wreak of cheese. Production starts at the end of September in New Orleans, and Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls, Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead, Runaway Jury, The Express), the man who makes weaker imitations of solid genre films, will direct.
Here’s an episode of Acting with James Franco, an old but funny series from Funny or Die.
