Coen Brothers-Scripted ‘Gambit’ Releases New Footage & Two Posters (UPDATE: First Trailer)

[Original] Directed by Michael Hoffman (The Last Stallion), Gambit is a remake of the 1966 romantic caper that starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. Only this time the film is scripted by Joel and Ethan Coen and stars Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz as the lead. Alan Rickman, Stanley Tucci, Tom Courtnenay and Cloris Leachman have supporting roles. There’s also 6seconds of footage and new posters revealed.
The teaser footage is assembled as part of a reel that’s been showing in UK theaters for several months:
Here’s a quick synopsis of Gambit:
British art curator Harry Deane (Firth), who devises a scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Alan Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Cameron Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
Gambit will be in UK theaters November 21, 2012 and will most likely be in US theaters in 2013.
