‘Antiviral’ Trailer Showcases Brandon Cronenberg’s Feature Debut
When your father is none other than David Cronenberg, there’s some unspoken rule of expectations to follow, but Brandon Cronenberg has his own particular style of body horror with Antiviral, making his feature film debut at Cannes. A Canadian trailer has been released in anticipation for his TIFF debut in September and we have a poster to boot as well.
The film already has US distribution thanks to IFC and it’s trailer is unnerving to say the least. Starring Caleb Landry Jones, see the trailer and an introduction that features The Lucas Clinic that plays heavily in the film:
Here’s a quick synopsis:
Syd March (Caleb Landry Jones) is an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Biological communion – for a price. Syd also supplies illegal samples of these viruses to piracy groups, smuggling them from the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills super sensation Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and rabid fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding her death before he suffers the same fate as she did.
Antiviral is written & directed by Brandon Cronenberg. Also starring Sarah Gadon, Malcolm McDowell, Douglas Smith and Nicholas Campbell.
