Ben Foster To Play Lance Armstrong

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at July 29, 2013 by

I was hoping for a wild-eyed Matthew McConaughey in biker shorts but I guess the Lance Armstrong pic just went Method when they put Ben Foster in the ring. It’s not a total done deal as talks are being finalized with Foster but the story on the street is that Stephen Frears’ Armstrong movie is well underway.

John Hodge (Trainspotting) wrote the script so you see where this is going. Between Frears and Hodge, we might get treated to a vision of up close doping scenes through the totally-into-it filter of Foster. Maybe a Fear and Loathing Treatment of the Tour de France? I’m just spitballing here.

Abigail Breslin To Play Zombie Daughter ‘Maggie’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at July 26, 2013 by

You loved her in Signs, Little Miss Sunshine and Zombieland. So now you can love her in Maggie. Abigail Breslin will step into the previously-vacated role by Chloe Moretz of a 16-year old who is turning into a zombie. Don’t they all? Like the ones in World War Z and 28 Days Later? Seriously, scary stuff. And they love malls…

Anyway, Maggie is infected by a zombie and the turn takes six months. Her family and friends must deal with her slow evolution from a very much alive teenage girl to the undead.

Kevin Smith’s Next Film ‘Tusk’ Weirdest Premise Ever?

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at July 26, 2013 by

So here’s a story about this dude:

Lost at sea for six months. Becomes close with a walrus. Gets rescued. Misses his buddy. Puts out an ad for someone to dress up in a walrus costume and be his roommate. Well played, Andy Kaufman. Well played.

Amping up the weird factor is that your favorite hockey jersey-wearing director, Kevin Smith, is making a movie out of it. A horror movie. In real life, the guy plays accordion. That’s pretty terrifying.

Smith has just completed a first draft of Clerks III and his Hit Somebody is becoming a miniseries. So that’s freeing up his time to get Tusk ready for shooting.

Via his Facebook page, James Merendino said almost all of the original cast of SLC Punk will be back for the sequel, Punk’s Dead. So that’s Matthew Lillard (Stevo), Devon Sawa (Sean, Annabeth Gish (Trish), Jimmy Duval (John the Mod), Til Schweiger (Mark), Michael Goorjian (Heroin Bob) and Christopher McDonald (Stevo’s Dad). Jason Segel is a big question mark. I’m not sure why. I don’t think Segel is too big for his britches. So we’ll see.

Dev Patel Considering the Lead in Sci-Fi Comedy ‘Chappie’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at July 10, 2013 by

You loved him in Slumdog Millionaire and The Newsroom. Get set to possibly see Dev Patel in a sweltering hot slum dealing with a bunch of trigger-happy robots. British-born Dev Patel rocks. He’s unassuming and delightful. So it’s great news to hear that he’s in talks to play the lead in Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9, Elysium) Chappie.

The film is based on Blomkamp’s short film Terta Vaal about police robots who patrol slum nations around the world. So Patel will be slumming it again and hopefully that will work out for him… again. District 9’s Sharlto Copley is also slated to appear in Chappie but it’s not clear whether he’ll play a robot that is rebooted.
