The talented Philip Seymour Hoffman has been signed to star in a film called God’s Pocket. The film is set in a working-class neighborhood called God’s Pocket. Hoffman plays a man named Mickey, whose mentally unbalanced stepson, Leon, is killed in what appears to be a construction accident.

That “great Scot” and recent action hero Gerard Butler is in negotiations to take flight as the lead in The Raven. The sci-fi conspiracy thriller is based on a 2010 short film by Ricardo de Montreuil and Antonio Perez. Butler recently established his role as an action star in Olympus Has Fallen.

Besides recognizing Mark Duplass from his recent stint on The Mindy Project, I can’t say I’m familiar with the actor. I’ve seen Olivia Wilde in Cowboys & Aliens and in Tron: Legacy, but that doesn’t do much for the actress who was on several seasons of House. The two actors have been cast in the medical thriller Reawakening from producer Jason Blum, behind the hits Insidious and Sinister.

Writer and director Dan Fogelman’s Imagine has recently added Jennifer Garner and Michael Caine to a cast that isn’t lacking for star-power – Garner and Caine join Annette Bening, Bobby Cannavale and Al Pacino for the film. While Julianne Moore and Jeremy Renner were reported to be attached at one point, that appears to no longer be the case.

This news makes me truly excited. Like unbelievably happy that Jeff Nichols next film is set up at Warner Bros. It’s a sci-fi film and he’s once again teaming up with Michael Shannon after their last most excellent collaboration on Take Shelter. I haven’t seen much else of Nichols work, but Take Shelter has made a lasting impression. Enough so, that I’ll just go see anything he does next.

It seems that Robert Redford is taking a walk with his next project. Redford will direct a film adaptation of Bill Bryson’s comedic travel book A Walk in the Woods.

Australian actor Callan McAuliffe appears to have a blossoming acting career. The actor can be seen as a teen in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby adaptation, opening this Friday, and has recently garnered the lead role in Our Robot Overlords.

To be honest, I havent’ been impressed with Martin Scorsese’s films lately. But his latest project, Silence, was greenlit just a month ago and will begin production next year. Luckily, the film is bringing on board Andrew Garfield and Ken Watanabe for the Japanese-language film.

One of the signs of a troubled production is marred by recasting a role in a film, but most of the time it’s due to scheduling conflicts or an actor doesn’t get with everyone else. This time, Jane Got A Gun has gone under some major retooling recently adding Ewan McGregor as the villain and Keira Knightley taking on the role previously played by Anne Hathaway in Laggies.

Stephen King’s deep roster of creative material is reaching fever pitch. CBS’s has Under The Dome this summer, J.J. Abrams has acquired the rights to 11/22/63 for TV and a remake of Carrie is coming to theaters for Halloween. And yet, A Good Marriage is also making its way to theaters, having already cast Joan Allen. Kristen Connolly and Anthony LaPaglia have just been cast in the project based on King’s 2010 novella by the same name.

Jason Bateman is in talks to star in a new film for Walt Disney Animation and Tangled director Byron Howard.
Neither Walt Disney Animation or Pixar have yet to comment on project, however a source of The Hollywood Report says the new project is an as-yet untitled animal comedy that does not yet have a release date.

It is only fitting that music superstar Justin Timberlake will star in a new rags to riches biopic as 1970s record icon and disco pioneer Neil Bogart. The film, Spinning Gold, was halted for two years but is now all ready to be financed and sold at Cannes Film Festival by Foresight Unlimited.
