With the success of Stallone’s Expendables franchise, it’s only natural that imitators will come knocking. But at least here’s one that sounds pretty damn exciting: Adi Shankar (producer of The Grey and Killing Them Softly) is developing an “Expendabelles” film, with an all-female cast, selecting up-and-comer Dutch Hamilton to write a treatment. The film hasn’t begun casting yet, but hopefully they’ll soon drop some body-dropping names. In the meantime, here’s our Dream Movie Casting of an all-female, all-ass-kicking, Expendabelles feature.

Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive) is a busy man, with a slew of new projects on the horizon. He is in talks to direct not only the film adaptation of the graphic novel Button Man, but may also be bringing a Barbarella (1968) remake to television. This is on top of his scheduled Logans’ Run (1976) remake and his current feature in development, Only God Forgives (both with Ryan Gosling).

Can Marvel keep up the momentum of The Avengers $1billion plus global box-office cume with the second chapter of its central characters? Guess they can since hiring new directors on all their properties (Iron Man 3 and Thor 2), Marvel is planning a Black Panther film and have hired directing comedy duos Anthony and Joe Russo to direct Captain America 2.

[UPDATE #3] It’s been a while since we last had any news on the Blade Runner sequel and now we have Ridley Scott speaking with The Independent, that he wants Harrison Ford in some capacity: “I don’t think it’ll be Harry [starring], but I’ve got to have him in it somewhere. That’d be amusing.” Also, original screenwriter Hampton Fancher is already on board with the film.

This has disaster written all over it. Maybe it was just shoddy reporting or Tim Hill has delusions of grandeur, but what the director said of the remake has me skeptical. Hill who’ll be co-writing and directing the film has planned three significant updates to Short Circuit which includes: a young pre-teen actress, updated robotic designs for Johnny 5 and a family-friendly tone reflecting modern-day war.

Cue the implosion of countless childhood memories. Michael Bay, dubbed to “rape” our childhood memories in the form of Transformers and now Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Bay is developing a live-action adaptation of TMNT from his company Platinum Dunes and angered fans by stating they’ll be alien in nature.

I have to admit, the first time I watched Game of Thrones as it aired on HBO didn’t necessarily impress me until the penultimate episode, an episode that declared all-out war on the many families of Westeros. Having rewatched the series on-demand, I can appreciate the narrative style of the series. One of those central plot developments has become the striking (and SPOILER!!!) image to the latest poster for Season 2 (which premieres April 1 on HBO).

In the mid 90′s, MTV’s Beavis & Butt-Head were all the rage.
Forward to 2012, make up artist Kevin Kirkpatrick (famous for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean) shares his newly created prosthetic models of what he thinks the counterparts would look like in real life. The results, albeit amusing and impressive, are a little on the creepy side. See for yourself.

Seems like fake movie posters have been all the craze recently thanks to this poster of Gosling in a Disney biopic. Now the boys over at JoBlo.com uncovered other fake movie posters by the same artist, and ended their article with their own dream movie casting idea:

In 2008, director Tomas Alfredson brought Let The Right One In to life in John Ajvide Lindqvist tale of two young individuals in Stockholm: Oskar, a 12-year-old boy and Eli, a centuries-old vampire who strike an unlikely friendship. While 2 years later in 2010, Matt Reeves would bring the story to the Reagan-era of New Mexico, renaming the characters Owen and Abby in Let Me In. On the surface you would question the true nature of the story, but the essence lies in its altruistic need for a friend when surrounded by the negativity of man.

Once in a while I’m in awe of the magnificent artwork that emanates from George Lucas’ Star Wars creations. This time it’s the promo posters for Star Wars Identities, an event will open next month in my hometown of Montreal . The exhibition will “explore the theme of personal identity both in ourselves and in the characters that inhabit the Star Wars universe.” I’ve never been a devoted Star Wars fan, but I’ve seen all the films and I hold Vader as one of the most iconic villains in film culture history.

Amanda Knox, recently acquitted of murdering her British roommate in Italy, has sold her memoirs to HarperCollins making it sound like the Italian Police had a conspiracy against this “All-American Girl”. You know another movie isn’t far behind and so… my vote is for Elizabeth Olsen who did some mesmerizing work in ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’.
Who would you like to see portray Amanda Knox on the big-screen? Did you like Hayden Panettiere’s portrayal? Did you care?
