MGM and Fox Reboot ‘Poltergeist’ Why?

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at June 21, 2013 by

I loved Carol Ann and Zelda Rubinstein in all of her creepy, small glory. I loved Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams. I loved 1982. But I did not love Poltergeist 2 or 3. Even with the amazing sassy pants of technology these days, I gotta ask, “Do we really need another Poltergeist.” I asked myself that as I’m alone right now. I’m kind of wondering about my sanity these days.

Anyway…It just seems a little like “Who Cares?” after so much has happened with ghosty like demony things. I’m still amazed they are still making Paranormal Activities down at the Paranormal Activity factory.

Paul Feig Directs Bond-Inspired Female Comedy ‘Susan Cooper’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at June 21, 2013 by

Paul Feig loves the ladies in that he loves championing women on the big screen. Inspired by the shot in the arm that Daniel Craig gave the Bond franchise with Casino Royale, Feig will direct Susan Cooper, a comedy similar to The Heat. I’m not going to lie, I chortled in a celebratory way when I first heard this. Honest to god chortled.

Posted at May 13, 2013 by

Vince Vaughn has recently chosen Paramount Pictures’ upcoming comedy Daddy’s Home as his next film. Vaughn, the writer and star of this June’s The Internship, joins Will Ferrell for the comedy, to be directed by Etan Cohen.

Jessica Chastain & Michael Caine Joining Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at May 6, 2013 by

Much debate could be had with Christopher Nolan’s films, as to whether they’re smart or if there’s a thin veil between its rudimentary formulas. I on the one hand fall in line with moviegoers who enjoy his films a great deal. Yes, even Inception for those who didn’t. Thankfully, Nolan has returned to the sci-fi well with Interstellar, casting Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine.

Bianca Kajlich and Aly Michalka are ‘Undateable’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 21, 2013 by

They are undateable guys, and we don’t know why. Yet. But the mystery will be revealed when NBC’s Undateable pilot launches.

Bianca Kajlich from Rules of Engagement and Aly Michalka from Hellcats have signed on to join the comedy. Written by Adam Sztykiel and based on the book by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle, the show is described as a bromantic comedy. It features two men, Danny (played by Chris D’Elia) and Justin (played by Brent Morin) who are bonded by their common issues with attracting women.

Fox Drama ‘Rake’ Gets Tara Summers

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 21, 2013 by

The cast of Fox’s drama Rake has all been raked together with the addition of Ringer actress Tara Summers.

Greg Kinnear stars as criminal defense lawyer Keegan Joye. Joye is smart, charming and says whatever he thinks. His lack of judgment and ability to self-censor help him land the cases that no one else wants. Under the surface, however, lies a sense of optimism and belief in justice that fire up his determination to defend clients deemed beyond saving.

Hugh Jackman To Star in Harlan Coben’s ‘Six Years’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 20, 2013 by

Although intriguing when a yet unpublished novel gets picked up for movie adaptation rights, its ultimately a great gamble. Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse seems to have fallen through for the time being, but it’s certainly the norm now with the systemic issues that plague the publishing industry. Everything needs to be a hit, including Harlan Coben’s Six Years, which has cast Hugh Jackman as the lead Jake Fisher.

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 13, 2013 by

Formerly titled Inhuman, this J.J. Abrams and J. H. Wyman futuristic drama is still in pilot contention but it’s pedigree seems like an almost sure thing. The duo were behind Fox’s recently concluded sci-fi series, Fringe, and are teaming up once again for an ”action-packed buddy cop show, from Warner Bros TV and Bad Robot, is set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.” Karl Urban, Minka Kelly, Lili Taylor and Michael Ealy have been cast to lead the series.

Bateman, Sudeikis & Day Hate Their Bosses Again In ‘Horrible Bosses 2′

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 12, 2013 by

In the Summer 2011, Bridesmaids was a mega-hit with moviegoers and there was another release that held up really well, but took a while for me to check out. It wasn’t much of a surprise when Horrible Bosses delighted in its concept that there wasn’t going to be a sequel. Luckily, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are returning in Horrible Bosses 2.

First Trailer For Joss Whedon’s Contemporary ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 11, 2013 by

If you’ve been following us here at DreamMovieCast, you’ll know that I’m a big Joss Whedon fan and that he’s done no wrong by my standards (even though, and I’ll most likely regret saying this, I wasn’t a fan of Angel). By all means, “the Boss” has married himself into another one of my passions, William Shakespeare. And so when the film was announced way back, I got excited. By adding the first trailer to the contemporary Much Ado About Nothing, the excitement has gone through the roof. See the trailer after the jump.

Christina Hendricks To Get ‘A Book of Common Prayer’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 7, 2013 by

I have to say, Christina Hendricks small role in Drive was splendid, even though it didn’t end well. Taking a small role like that and making it filled with empathy requires a lot of skill. Likewise for her role on Mad Men as Joan Harris on this past season. The lady will be joining A Book of Common Prayer, directed by The Amazing Spider-Man actor Campbell Scott.

Jon Stewart Steps Up for Directorial Debut ‘Rosewater’, John Oliver to Host Daily Show

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 6, 2013 by

In a world I cannot imagine until just this moment, Jon Stewart is about to stop down from “The Daily Show” for 12 weeks this summer to direct his first feature while show regular John Oliver subs for him. And Stewart has chosen a weighty topic for his first time out.

Stewart has become an overachiever we can actually like with this series of events: Stewart has had former political prisoner and journalist/author/activist/documentary filmmaker Maziar Bahari on his show a few times. Maziar wrote a book, Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival, about his ordeal in June of 2009 when he was detained on what he says were fabricated charges and held prisoner in Iran in the infamous Evin Prison.

Rebecca Hall Joins Wally Pfister’s ‘Transcendence’

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 6, 2013 by

There’s a slight The Prestige reunion going on with Wally Pfister’s Transcendence. The director, who had previously served as director of photography for Christopher Nolan’s illusion mind-bender will be reteaming with the beautiful actress Rebecca Hall. She’ll be joined by Paul Bettany, as well as it’s leads Johnny Depp.

Shirley MacLaine & New Members Arrive In ‘Downton Abbey’ For Fourth Season, As Another Leaves (First Look)

CHECK IT OUT

Posted at March 4, 2013 by

Who doesn’t love the British upstairs-downstairs soapy drama Downton Abbey? Apparently a lot of us in North America are tuning in (even when against the SuperBowl)to watch the show on PBS’ Masterpiece Classic and we love our  Grantham’s, Crawley’s, as well as their staff. Have no fear, Shirley MacLaine is returning to the series, bringing along several new casting additions.
