Tim Roth Joins ‘Grace of Monaco’ Alongside Nicole Kidman and Frank Langella (UPDATE: Parker Posey & Milo Ventimiglia Join)
[UPDATE] Parkey Posey and Milo Ventimiglia are joining Grace of Monaco as “Kelly’s scheming lady-in-waiting Madge Tivey-Faucon”, while Ventimiglia will play Rupert Allan, Kelly’s publicist.
[Original] Tim Roth will soon become a royal, starring as Prince Rainer III of Monaco in the upcoming Grace of Monaco. Nicole Kidman will play his beautiful Grace Kelly, who married Rainer in 1956 to become “Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco.” Olivier Dahan (La Vie En Rose) will direct the film, from a Black List script by Arash Amel. Frank Langella is also in place as Father Tucker, the royals’ confidante and advisor.
The film will also feature Paz Vega (no, not Penelope Cruz) as opera legend Maria Callas, Princess Grace’s close friend. And keep an eye out for a Hitchcock cameo, to be played by little-known Roger Ashton-Griffiths. He will be the third Hitchcock to hit the screen in as many years, after Toby Jones’ turn in HBO’s The Girl, and Sir Anthony Hopkins’ turn in Hitchcock.
Grace Of Monaco is set in 1962, when France’s Prime Minister, Charles De Gaulle, challenged Prince Rainer’s tax laws that allowed Monaco to become a tax haven. Roth’s Prince Rainer III is described as “ambitious and strong-headed,” although he soon relents to his wife, allowing her to maneuver behind the scenes and deflate political troubles.
Grace of Monaco will begin production this fall on location in France.
